OUR HISTORY

The story of Edmée is above all one of a meeting between a family heritage, a strong friendship and a shared passion for craftsmanship. To understand who we are, we must trace the thread of our influences, our inspirations and our choices, and discover how a name steeped in memories became the symbol of a carefully distilled artisanal gin, in the heart of Provence.

The idea was born from the desire of two friends to realise a dream: to create a spirit that reflected their values, rooted in the region, a pure product of Provence, respectful of traditional expertise but open to innovation. For a long time, they had shared a taste for authentic flavours, the joy of discovering exceptional products, and a curiosity to understand how aromas are created. Their common goal was simple: to master every step of the process, distil themselves, and create a gin that was not just a product, but a true experience.

In this adventure, one name quickly came to mind: Edmée, Étienne’s grandmother..

This strong-willed, elegant and proud woman had a gift for embodying essential values: loyalty to heritage, the power of transmission, and the nobility of simplicity.
Naming this gin after her was a way of celebrating the depth of a family history and paying tribute to an inspiring figure whose spirit lives on in every bottle.

A bespoke copper alembic still

But creating an exceptional artisanal gin cannot be improvised.
It requires passion, expertise and, of course, the still.
We didn’t want a run-of-the-mill piece of equipment, but something unique, crafted by expert hands, that would reflect our high standards.
After extensive research, we found a craftsman capable of designing a custom-made copper still, designed to bring out the best in each ingredient.
Copper, a metal traditionally associated with distillation, embodies precision, temperature control and a certain poetry of movement.
In the workshop of this master craftsman, sheets of copper were formed into a unique piece, destined for our distillery in Aix-en-Provence.

Provence, in fact, is not a randomly chosen setting. This sun-drenched land, with its lavender fields, green hills and farmers’ markets,
is the land of our childhood. The scents of the Mediterranean, the generosity of the terroir, the diversity of aromatic plants—all of this permeates our work.
It is not just a picture postcard, but a daily reality: inspiration is found in the air, in the earth, in exchanges with local producers,
in the curiosity to taste, smell and understand what makes up the soul of this region.

Our history is also one of complementarity.

Each of us brings a unique perspective, talent and passion to the table.
Together, we explored juniper berries, coriander, cardamom, hibiscus, iris, citrus fruits and many other treasures.
We tasted, tested and adjusted until we achieved two gins with distinct personalities: the Intense, deep and spicy, and the Floral, light and delicate.
These two expressions, although different, share the same DNA:
the desire to respect the raw materials, to enhance each aroma and to offer a sincere taste experience.

This adventure is guided by patience and rigour. Tasting, going back to the drawing board, constantly refining: this is the guiding principle behind our work.
Ultimately, creating an artisanal gin is about telling a story of connections, memories and aspirations. With Edmée Gin, we are continuing the story of a woman who knew how to convey her strength and elegance. We express the values of friendship and the passion of two demanding creators, committed to a quest for unforgettable flavours.

This is how our story is lived out every day, in every gesture, every aroma, every sip. Edmée Gin is not just a name on a label, it is the fruit of our crossed paths, a bridge between yesterday and today, between the earth and the glass, between memory and creation.
